Your Bridal Preview Experience
We’re honored to be part of your wedding journey and look forward to working closely with you to create a bridal look that feels polished, timeless, and uniquely yours.
To ensure each bride receives an unhurried, highly personalized preview experience, we schedule the majority of bridal trials during our off-peak season, typically January through March. This allows us to dedicate ample time and attention to refining your look before the wedding season begins.
If your timeline requires a preview outside of this window, we’re always happy to review requests and accommodate when possible, based on availability.
PREVIEW LOCATION AND DURATION
We generally do all trials at our studio in Center City Philadelphia
Ola Beauty
1118 Pine Street
Philadelphia, PA 19107
Please plan for approximately 90 minutes per service (makeup and/or hair).
PREPARING FOR YOUR MAKEUP PREVIEW
To help you visualize your final bridal look, we recommend wearing a top with a color and neckline similar to your wedding gown. This can make a noticeable difference in how the makeup and hair appear on you.
Please bring any accessories you plan to wear on your wedding day—such as jewelry, hairpieces, or your veil—as these details help complete the overall vision.
We encourage gathering inspiration ahead of your preview. Browsing Pinterest, bridal magazines, or fashion editorials can be helpful. As you review images, consider what specifically draws you in: glowing skin, defined eyes, soft lips, or an overall mood. Thinking in terms of finishes—glowy, natural, or matte—and coverage preferences will help guide the process.
When selecting inspiration images, look for models with similar features, such as skin tone, eye shape, and hair color. Certain looks translate differently depending on facial structure, coloring, and hair texture. Our goal is always to enhance your natural beauty—not work against it.
During your preview, we’ll review your inspiration together and discuss how to adapt it to best suit you, your wedding style, and your photography. If you’re unsure of what direction to take, we’ll guide you with professional recommendations and refine the look collaboratively.
With extensive experience in photography, videography, and film, our team understands how makeup translates on camera. While bridal makeup is typically more polished than everyday wear, heavy makeup is not required for photography. Soft, luminous finishes photograph beautifully, and dewy skin is absolutely appropriate for wedding day makeup.
To avoid appearing washed out against white or ivory fabrics, we often recommend incorporating a subtle pop of color—through lipstick, gloss, or blush—to add dimension and balance.
PREPARING YOUR HAIR FOR THE PREVIEW
Please arrive with your hair washed, fully dried, and free of heavy product. Bring inspiration images of hairstyles you’re considering.
If your hair is fine or shorter and you’re envisioning wearing it down, clip-in extensions may help add volume or length. We do have a limited selection of extension colors available at the studio for you to try during your preview.
If you’re planning a bun or structured updo, extensions are typically not necessary. In some cases, we may use a mesh insert for added fullness—just let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.
PREPARING YOUR SKIN
FOR YOUR PREVIEW AND WEDDING DAY
Each makeup application is fully customized to your features, preferences, and comfort level. Techniques such as contouring, brow enhancement, and false lashes are commonly used, but all shades, finishes, and intensities are tailored specifically to you.
We recommend completing any facial waxing, tweezing, or threading before your preview and again a few days prior to your wedding day.
In the months leading up to your wedding, prioritizing skin care will make a meaningful difference in your final makeup result. Consistent hydration, sun protection, and a thoughtful skincare routine are key.
For professional skin care, we highly recommend Rescue Spa (Philadelphia or NYC), known for customized facials that support healthy, glowing skin. Monthly facials, when possible, can be especially beneficial.
If you use retinol or acne-treatment products, we suggest reducing frequency in the weeks leading up to your preview and wedding day and focusing on deep hydration instead. Makeup performs best on well-moisturized skin, and we’re always happy to conceal the occasional blemish rather than work over dryness or flaking.
If you’re fair-skinned and envision a bronzed makeup look, makeup alone may not achieve the desired effect. A light airbrush tan prior to the wedding is often helpful. One of our local favorites is Baked in Philadelphia.
For additional skincare tips or product recommendations, feel free to ask—we’re always happy to guide you.
